Our Why

For at least two decades, our Founder simultaneously built a career in the business sector and in international development. She worked closely with clients and gained a grounded understanding of business, risk, client satisfaction, and long-term value.  In an Executive role, she led research for over 10 business subsidiaries operating across diverse sectors. The overarching goal was to identify opportunities, risks, emerging threats, and growth signals across sectors and distill them into insights that could help shape long-term strategies, new product launches, or market repositioning plans. 

This was the birth of Pinnacle Impact International’s market ambitions.

A fundamental problem exposed during that time was that the ambitions of the private sector and those of the social & environmental actors lived in separate rooms. Sector interests were being discussed in parallel conversations, led by separate voices, and often treated as competing priorities. While few would deny their interconnection, the prevailing architecture consistently allowed one to take priority over the other.

What changed our founder’s perspective was an encounter, through her work with a global development agency, with business models emerging across Africa that were pushing well past the boundaries of philanthropy and CSR. These were homegrown innovations – scalable, profitable, and responsive to the social and environmental reality in which they operated. The outcomes were transformative. And the lesson was clear: business interest should be an integral part of the sustainability conversation, not adjacent to it. 

In her later role leading one of Jamaica’s premier Corporate Foundations, she worked with multilateral agencies on multi-million-dollar climate adaptation and economic resilience projects.
